Experience : 17+ Years Qualification: MSc in Psychology (UK) Email : Info@open-mindsuae.com Phone : +971508201716 Languages English Irish Personal Experience & Biography A seasoned professional, Sandra Gorman is a Counselling Psychologist and School Counsellor, with over 17 years’ experience working in Ireland and UAE, in the mental health and wellbeing sector. She has vast experience working with adults and young people in diverse multicultural populations empowering them to find their inner strength, self-worth and develop strategies to overcome life challenges hence live a more fulfilling and peaceful life. Her extensive workplace experience includes hospitals, clinics, and schools and thus has addressed a wide range of concerns that people needed to navigate in their lives. Sandra is a Dubai licensed CDA psychologist and an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) in Ireland. Sandra believes that most of our challenges arise because of the relationships we have with ourselves and with others in our personal and professional lives. We can also find ourselves stuck in life without enough self-awareness and strategies to move forward. When Sandra works with teenagers and young adults, she meets them where they are, being mindful of the developmental phases they are at. These psychological development phases differ when she is working with older adults as by then our cognitive and emotional regulation is more mature. However, many of the broad concerns are similar yet vary in contexts and age. For example, stress management (school, university, or workplace), personal and professional relationships, low self-esteem, anxiety, low mood, depression, grief and loss, trauma, navigating parenting, life events and transitions (new country, new school, going to university, new job, children leaving home, loss of meaning). Meeting each client exactly where they are at that moment in their lives, Sandra uses an integrative approach to build self-awareness, provide psychoeducation, insights, and practical strategies to empower her clients to take their power and live a more content and fulfilling life.
